I was born in 1948 in St Mary’s Hospital East Ham, within the sound of Bow Bells, so noise pollution aside, that makes me a Cockney. I’m still audibly so, in spite of travels out of the East End to North London, the Irish Republic, and now West Yorkshire.
Having retired from the world of work that shouts ‘Get yourself a proper job’, I’m far more confident about saying I’m a writer and a poet, which of course I have been discreetly been since childhood. That confidence extends to embarking on the Writing MA at Sheffield Hallam where I have learnt that any writer worth his salt has to have a blog.

What you’ll find on my blog:
- Details of poetry and prose published in magazines.
- How to pick up my two poetry collections: The lovelife of the absent-minded, Phoenix Press 1993, and Somewhere Else Utistugu Press 2003.
- Examples of poems placed in national and local competitions
- Thoughts on the world of poetry, in particular the neglected art of the ‘poetry reading’.
- Photos of signage that have a poetic impact.
