The Beehive Poets are a small but open group formed in 1999. We meet weekly in the comfortable and relaxed surroundings of the New Beehive Inn on Westgate in Bradford. We aim to be a mutually supportive group providing a respectful hearing for any poets reading their work and friendly advice where this is wanted. Newcomers are welcome to come along any Monday at 8.30pm. On the second Monday of the month we usually invite poets from outside our group to give readings. On the fourth Monday we host the Bradford Poetry Workshop, at which poets bring along printed copies of a poem for workshopping. On other Mondays we have a read-round . By no means exhaustive, here is a list of poets who have read at the Beehive: Gerard Benson, Pat Borthwick, Geoff Hattersley, Carola Luther, Geraldine Monk, Ian Parks, Peter Pegnall, Mario Petrucci, Milner Place, Martyn Crucefix, Daljit Nagra, Peter Didsbury, Gillian Allnutt and Vernon Scannell. Over the years we have published collections of work and a series of pamphlets: ‘Swarm’, ‘Not quite opposite Morrisons enough’, ‘Through’ ‘Praesepe’ and ‘Bee 1-4’. Details of how to purchase collections are available via our website www.beehivepoets.org.uk where you can also find details of forthcoming readings and contact details.
